nfs mount: [servername] :: RPC Rpcbind failure, RPC: Timed Out, nfs mount: retrying:/[mountpoint]

E-mail Print PDF

This is quite a serious error message indicating that the NFS service is not working correctly.

This error message is related to problems accessing the the nfs host server and could be due to the following reasons:

  • An incorrect or invalid Internet address
  • An incorrect host and / or node name in the hosts database file.
  • The hosts file on the client has the correct server host, however the host server node was unavailable temporarily - related other processes causing high load.

The root cause of these problems can sometimes be a lack of resources, check your logs including the messages and system logs to determine if the host server is low on Ram, Disk and IO resources.
